New Vaccine Could Eradicate Symtoms of Traveler's Diarrhea

It is estimated that people traveling to Latin America have a 50 percent risk of developing diarrhea, most commonly caused by a certain bacteria.  A pharmaceutical company based in Gaithersburg, Maryland is preparing for a clinical research study of an investigational vaccine for traveler’s diarrhea. The study will evaluate the study vaccine to determine if it may prevent or lessen the symptoms of travelers' diarrhea from developing. The investigational vaccine is given via a patch on the skin that is worn for approximately six hours. Two patches are applied in the month prior to departure.
 
You must be in country for at least 7 days.  Participation in this study is entirely voluntary.
